Walthall continues his advance north. As he nears Brannan’s line, the 17th and 9th Ohio charge, halt Walthall’s tired and overextended soldiers, and then force the Rebels to retreat. The 9th Ohio recaptures Battery H, 5th United States.
To the east, Dibrell crosses Reeds Bridge Road in the hopes of outflanking Van Derveer’s position. Leaving the 9th Ohio behind, Van Derveer races north with his remaining three regiments and battery to counter him. |
