General King redeploys in a semi-circle facing south and southeast. The 94th Ohio halts its retreat and forms alongside them. However, no sooner have they settled into their new position when Walthall charges them. The 1st Battalion, 16th U.S. Infantry is almost entirely captured. Battery H, 5th United States is overrun and captured. The rest of the brigade routs and flees through Van Derveer’s line.
Govan regroups quickly after capturing the hill from Starkweather, and resume the advance north. Croxton also finishes bringing his brigade on line and advances south.
