North of Croxton, Dibrell runs headlong into Van Derveer’s brigade.  Van Derveer is deployed on a large hill, the highest elevation in the area.  After a short fight, Dibrell withdraws.

            Croxton and Davidson continue their firefight.  To the south, Wilson begins his advance.  When his skirmishers detect the movement, Croxton refuses his flank.

            Reinforcements continue to arrive on both sides.  Brannan commits his last brigade, Connell’s and the 31^st Ohio of the brigade makes its way toward Croxton.  On the Confederate side, Ector’s brigade marches up Jay’s Mill Road.
