The fighting slowly dies down as night and smoke reduce visibility to nothing.  Regiments of Vaughn and Deshler are dangerously intermixed, so they halt their attack in front of Dodge’s brigade.  The rest of Deshler, Strahl, and Wright’s brigades end their advance at the edge of Brock Field.  The fighting on the first day at the Battle of Chickamauga comes to a close.
