The Wheat Field and Ravine The ravine at Pickett’s Mill saw the most intense fighting of the battle, as three Union brigades attempted to scale its slopes and dislodge the Confederates from the southern ridge. Except for the trail running down the floor of the ravine, it looks exactly as it did that fateful day in 1864. ![]() |
