Poe & Brotherton Fields
Sept 20th

Brown and Wood’s Brigades burst out of the forest and into Poe Field.  Brown’s Brigade crossed the Lafayette Road south of the Poe house and charge, driving the 17th Ohio and Battery D, 1st Michigan of Connell’s brigade from works.  However, they have taken many casualties from front and flanking fire.  The two regiments of Wood’s Brigade split.  The 33rd Alabama moves closely with Brown, and fights near the Poe House.  The 16th Alabama takes up a prone position near the Lafayette Road and engages King’s brigade.  Bate and Clayton wait at the edge of the forest for their turn to get into the fight.
On the other side, Union units are still moving into position, despite the Confederate attacks.  Dick’s brigade of Van Cleve’s division has been ordered north, yet another brigade sent north to help General Thomas.  Barnes and Harker of Wood’s division are still marching through the woods toward the Glenn-Kelly Road on their way north to help Reynolds.
