Turchin’s brigade quickly wheels to the right and charges Sheffield.  The 90^th Ohio of Cruft’s brigade also joins in the charge.  Sheffield retreats.  Col. Sheffield falls from his horse and injures his back.  Command of the brigade is taken over by Col. William Perry of the 44^th Alabama.
