Davis’ division continues to conduct a fighting withdrawal.  Gregg and McNair move past their flank and head for the Lafayette Road.  The two frontline regiments of Barnes’ brigade retire to the southwest corner of East Viniard Field, while the two remaining regiments continue to battle Trigg’s brigade.  The 98^th Illinois and 17^th Indiana, seeing stragglers fleeing across West Viniard Field and the approach of Gregg and McNair, shift to the north.
