Robertson, Gregg, and McNair attack.  Davis’s division falls back fighting.  Trigg’s brigade attacks Barnes’ open flank, and the two front rank regiments of the brigade retreat.  The 123^rd Illinois and 72^nd Indiana retreat back to their old line.

            The two brigades of Wood’s division form up in support along the Lafayette Road.
