Brown’s brigade moves through and relieves Clayton, who retires in good order.  During the lull, the frontline regiments of S. Beatty’s brigade move forward and take control of Carnes abandoned battery, moving toward the Lafayette Road.  To the north, the 6^th Ohio of Grose’s brigade retires to Brotherton Field to replenish its ammunition.

            To the south, the brigades of E. King and Fulton make contact and begin trading volleys.
